Special Prayer on Martin Luther King's Day

As we pause today to celebrate and reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., remember this: Dr. King didn’t just have a dream—he carried a burden. It was a holy burden, birthed from the very heart of God, calling us toward justice, reconciliation, and courageous love.

He reminded us of “the fierce urgency of now”—the truth that justice delayed is justice denied, and that each of us has a role to play in shaping a more righteous and compassionate world today, not someday.

As we honor his legacy, may we not only enjoy the day but also embrace the responsibility it represents. Let us live with that same urgency, that same conviction, and that same God‑given courage.

Brother David Campbell has shared this special prayer with you:

Heavenly Father,

On this day we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we thank You for using him as a vessel of courage, wisdom, and love. Thank you for his unwavering faith in justice, his commitment to peace, and his bold stand for equality in the face of hatred and oppression.

Lord, help us not only to honor his words, but to live out his example. Teach us to love our neighbors as ourselves, to stand for what is right even when it is difficult, and to respond to injustice not with bitterness, but with compassion, truth, and courage. We pray that future generations will rise with integrity and purpose, committed to building a world rooted in dignity, fairness, and love for all people. May your will be done through us, today and always.

In Jesus name I pray.

Amen
